From This Season Never Ends 2010 Calendar:  “Before a crowd of over 16,000 in New York's , #1 gave his first Championship, 58-42 over .  The outcome of this one was never in question.  Kentucky had the tallest man on the floor, 6-7 , who led all scorers with 14.  had the quickest player as well, with speedy pitching in 12.  Baylor tried to slow the game down to no avail as the Cats raced out to an early 17-point lead.  UK finished with a record 36 victories.

On March 19, 1966, Pat Riley joined the 1,000-point club.  He did it in 54 games.

 

On March 19, 1966, in one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history, top-ranked UK, featuring “Rupp’s Runts,” loses in the NCAA Championship game, 72-65, to Texas Western.

 

On March 19, 1989, in the wake of an NCAA investigation, Eddie Sutton resigns as UK basketball coach.
