Anthony Davis will not become the richest rookie in the NBA

When National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner David Stern announces University of Kentucky’s Anthony Davis as the first overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, Davis will become the first player selected by an NBA team to play in a full-length season since the new 10-year collective bargaining agreement was ratified by the NBA Board of Governors in December 2011.  Davis will enter a changed league that splits basketball-related income in half with its players, caps the maximum length of a player’s contract to five years, and may some day begin blood testing for human growth hormone (HGH).  The new collective bargaining agreement also stipulates that Davis will not get an increase in salary compared to last year’s number one overall pick, Kyrie Irving or the prior year’s first pick, John Wall.
