John Calipari took a bold approach Monday when he told the most passionate, the most rabid and sometimes the most irrational fan base to – get this – be patient.
That's like telling a pack of hungry dogs not to eat a slab of meat someone just threw in the middle of them.
Coach Cal dangled the proverbial piece of meat in front of the Big Blue Nation in mid-August when he rolled out arguably his deepest and his most talented team yet at Kentucky. With eight scholarship returners from last year's national runner-up team, another star-studded recruiting class and a new-look platoon system that worked better than anyone could have anticipated, Calipari's Cats dazzled the fan base in the exhibition tour in the Bahamas, raising what seemed like were expectations incapable of going any higher and turning them up a little bit more.
