GENERAL
All-Conference and All-America candidate who will man the middle for the
Wildcats... Is the Cats only returning senior with experience, having started 40 games
during his UK career... A great intimidator, defender and shot blocker, his offense must
continue to improve to give him the total package... Needs 16 blocked shots to capture the
UK career record.
Junior: Played in 34 games with six starts and has now played in 112 games
during his three-year career... Finished fifth on the team in scoring (7.0 ppg), fourth in
rebounding (4.4 rpg) and tops in blocked shots (66)... Terrific in postseason play,
averaging 8.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 2.1 bpg while shooting 55.8 percent from the field... Has
played in 16 NCAA Tournament games, recording 34 blocked shots which ranks fifth all-time
in NCAA Tournament history... Scored in double figures 11 times... Had a super SEC
Tournament, averaging 10.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg and blocking seven shots while shooting 60.9
percent from the field. Totaled 10 points and nine rebounds against Auburn, then followed
with 13 points and five boards against Arkansas in the tourney finale... Became the fourth
Cat to tally 200 blocks in a career and has 211, which ranks fourth at UK... Recorded his
fifth career double-double, his third of the season, with 14 points and 11 rebounds at
Arkansas (2/20)... Recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 11
rebounds vs. LSU... Tallied his first double-double of '99 with 12 points and a
season-high 11 rebounds at South Carolina... Broke out offensively vs. Georgia Tech,
netting 15 points and three steals in 16 minutes to earn game MVP honors... Matched his
career high in blocks for the fifth time in his career with six swats vs. Maryland... Came
off the bench to block six shots against Wright State in 18 minutes. Sophomore: Played in
38 of the 39 games with 12 starts... Led the squad with 66 blocks... Was a tremendous lift
off the bench in NCAA Tournament play, averaging 16.3 minutes, 4.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 3.0
bpg. Shot 71.4% FG and 80.0% FT during the six games... Had six blocks against UCLA in the
South Region semifinals. Tallied 13 blocks in four NCAA Tournament games despite averaging
only 14.3 minutes per game... Scored in double figures five times... Career effort vs.
Missouri, finishing with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor. Had 17 rebounds, 14
in the second half.
Freshman: Started 22 of the 40 games including five of the six in the NCAA
tournament... Led the SEC in blocked shots with 79 (2.0 bpg)... Named to the SEC's
All-Freshmen team... Tallied seven rebounds and four blocks in 30 minutes of Final Four
action... Recorded six blocked shots vs. Wright State in UK's home opener and grabbed 10
boards... Recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds vs.
Alaska-Anchorage... Scored a career-high 16 points against Syracuse in the Great Alaska
Shootout.
High School: Averaged 23.8 ppg, 14.7 rpg, 7.2 bpg and 3.0 apg as a senior to
lead Eastern Commerce to its second straight Ontario Golden Ball title, a provincial
championship equivalent to a state title in the United States... Shot 61.2% FG and 72.0%
FT as EC finished with a 39-3 record... Was MVP of the National Kingdom Tournament in
Ocala, Fla., in Dec. 1995, after registering 24 points, 15 boards and eight blocks in a
win over Orlando Phillips. Was also 16-16 from the foul line... As a junior, he led the
squad to its first Golden Ball title, averaging 15.0 ppg, 10.4 rpg and seven bpg... High
school coach was Simeon Mars... Played for the Canadian National Team during the summers
of 1996 and '97.
