GENERAL
Long-range shooter who's athletic and can create his own shot... Will be counted
on to provide depth at shooting guard. Freshman: Played in 14 games... Came off the bench
in the final four minutes of the first half against Ole Miss as eight Wildcats had at
least two fouls during the period in the SEC tourney opener. Guarded Keith Carter and held
him to just one FG during the stretch... Hit his first career three-pointer against
Georgia (2/17/99). Followed up with another three against Vanderbilt... Suffered from shin
splints early in the season... Recorded a career-high six rebounds against Mercer...
Scored his first collegiate points with his first field goal attempt against EKU in the
season opener.
High School: Helped Paintsville to a 30-7 record and a state runner-up finish in
1998... Averaged 20.6 ppg and 3.1 apg as a senior... Shot 49.1 percent from the field,
39.9 percent from three-point range and 69.9 percent from the foul line... In the '98
state tournament, he averaged 23.5 ppg, scoring 31 points against Clay County, 25 vs.
Fleming County and 19 vs. Boyd County... In the final against Scott County, he had 19
points before a back injury sidelined him late in the third quarter with his Tigers
leading by one. He did not return and Paintsville fell 89-78... He was named first-team
all-state as a junior and senior and honorable mention All-America by Street & Smith's
and Parade Magazine... Finished his five-year career with 2,082 points, which ranks 5th
all-time at the school... Holds school records for career assists (601) and most points in
a single game (56 vs. Pike County Central)... As a sophomore, averaged 14.3 ppg as
Paintsville won the state championship... As a junior, he averaged 18.2 ppg as the Tigers
advanced to the state semifinals... Was all-district and all-region his last four
seasons... Named to the Kentucky All-Stars and also participated in the Kentucky Derby
Classic where he was named MVP... Played at the same school as former UK letterman John
