Former Cat Travis Ford wins one, loses one

Cowboys coach Travis Ford had reason to celebrate Tuesday night, with his team delivering a 66-50 win over Pacific on his 40th birthday.  But from across the country, Ford took a hit — in the  record book.  Kentucky freshman  broke Ford's school mark for assists in a game, handing out 16 in the Wildcats' win over Hartford. Wall had already set the school freshman record with 14 assists against UNC Asheville.  “Ohhh… I knew it was a matter of time,” said Ford, who had the record with 15. “He's not a bad guy to lose it to.”

On This Day In UK Basketball History

On February 21, 1970, No. 2 Kentucky defeated LSU, 121-105.  Dan Issel scored 51 points, Mike Pratt 27 and Tom Parker 18 as UK outgunned LSU star “Pistol Pete” Maravich’s 64-point performance before 9,000 fans in the John Parker Memorial Coliseum.  This was the ultimate shootout between all-time SEC greats Maravich and Issel.
