John Wall tops 2009 sports scene in North Carolina

Not long ago at a tournament for high school-age basketball players in Philadelphia, a performance by Garner's John Wall stunned North Carolina coach Roy Williams.  “I said, ‘Who the heck is that guy?' ” Williams recalled this month.  A year ago, Wall was packing the gym at the Glaxo SmithKline Invitational in Raleigh and was well known in recruiting circles.

On February 23, 1970, Dan Issel scored 47 points against Alabama.

 

On February 23, 2019, with an 80-53 victory over Auburn, 10th-year head coach John Calipari moves past Joe B. Hall for the second most victories by a UK head coach in program history. He trails only the Baron of the Bluegrass, Adolph Rupp.
