Mid-Continent University head coach Winston Bennett planned the Cougars’ pre-conference schedule just about right. “Our schedule is tough enough to prepare us for the TranSouth season,” says Bennett, whose Cougars posted a 7-7 pre-conference record. This season, MCU is 2-3 against nationally-ranked NAIA Division I teams (Dec. 14 poll), with a win and a loss against #9 Cumberlands, a narrow loss to #8 Pikeville, a loss to #18 Georgetown, and a win over Campbellsville (Ky.), which received votes toward the top 25. MCU also lost twice against Indiana-Southeast which ranks 7th in the NAIA Division II.
