Former Cat John Pelphrey in middle of ‘emotional’ stretch

John Pelphrey didn't realize how unique — and challenging — the early portion of ' Southeastern Conference schedule was going to be until last Saturday.  His team had just picked up a much-needed win, beating Alabama 71-59 in Bud Walton Arena. It ended a four-game slide. And there was a little extra emotion because one of Pelphrey's best friends, Alabama coach Anthony Grant, was on the opposite bench.

On February 23, 1970, Dan Issel scored 47 points against Alabama.


On February 23, 2019, with an 80-53 victory over Auburn, 10th-year head coach John Calipari moves past Joe B. Hall for the second most victories by a UK head coach in program history. He trails only the Baron of the Bluegrass, Adolph Rupp.
