The Providence boys basketball team, ranked No. 22 in the country on the ESPN Rise Fab 50 Poll, kept the momentum rolling with a 58-51 win over Gainesville’s The Rock on Monday at Florida State College at Jacksonville South in the Martin Luther King tournament. Stacey Poole led the Stallions with 17 points, while Patric Young added 14 and Wayne Martin netted 11. It was the 14th straight win for Providence (18-1), which stomped host St. Augustine 64-31 on Jan. 14. Providence played at St. Joseph Academy on Friday and will take on Arlington Country Day on Monday at the University of North Florida in what will be one of the top area basketball games of the season. Arlington was the only team to defeat Providence last season, beating the Stallions in the district championship game and the state playoffs on their way to the Class 2A state championship. Arlington is now in Class A.
