Kentucky recruit Doron Lamb explodes for 49 points

Doron Lamb held the large crowd in the palm of his hands.  With each made pull-up jump shot, they gasped. Each pretty 3-pointer, oohs and aahs followed. Each ferocious drive, they roared. His final point total – 49 – brought a sudden hush to the crowd – so loud one moment, so quiet the next – followed by a thunderous roar.  “Each shot I put up,” the smooth 6-foot-4 Oak Hill shooting guard said, “I thought I could make.”  He nearly did.

On This Day In UK Basketball History

On February 23, 1970, Dan Issel scored 47 points against Alabama.

 

On February 23, 2019, with an 80-53 victory over Auburn, 10th-year head coach John Calipari moves past Joe B. Hall for the second most victories by a UK head coach in program history. He trails only the Baron of the Bluegrass, Adolph Rupp.
