Bloomberg ranks idea of expanding the NCAA tournament up there with New Coke

And we all know what happened to New Coke.  From BusinessWeek.com:  “There are bad ideas, like Jay Leno at 10 p.m.; harebrained ideas, like New Coke; and then there’s this: expanding the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament.  Yup, the folks at the NCAA, rulers of intercollegiate athletics, just can’t leave well enough alone. They’ve got to tinker with the closest thing American sports has to perfection.  And all for a few bucks that will not only render the regular season meaningless but cheapen what it means to be included in the field that contends for the championship.”
