Florida survived a 32-point night by BYU’s Jimmer Fredette for a thrilling 83-74 overtime victory in the Southeast Regional semifinal on Thursday in New Orleans. Alex Tyus had 19 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Gators, and Kenny Boyton added 17 points. It’s Florida’s first appearance in the Elite Eight since 2007, and will play the winner of Butler-Wisconsin.
