
Kentucky’s DeAndre Liggins concedes Derrick Rose got the best of him when they met in high school. “I think I had him in foul trouble, though,” Liggins said. “But they still beat us by 15. Playing against him, though, made me better. It’s about playing against those guys and learning from it.” Going against top-flight Chicago guards has helped mold him into one of college basketball’s best defenders but it hasn’t necessarily fostered a love affair with his hometown. “We have a lot of haters there,” he said.
