With all the excitement and controversy surrounding the “NBA Players because we can’t call them the Kentucky Pros” vs. the Dominican Republic national team, it dawned on me that one voice usually associated with any kind of controversial issue regarding the Kentucky basketball program has been unusually quiet. That voice? None other than Jerry Tipton’s. I decided to do some investigating of my own for lack of anything better to do. I found that Jerry has not blogged anything on his personal blog since July 8, 2011. I checked Kentucky.com, the official website for the Lexington Herald-Leader, and Jerry is not listed as a sports columnist. The site only lists Mark Story and John Clay. Sources at the Lexington Herald-Leader informed me that Jerry isn’t a columnist for the Herald-Leader. He is a beat writer for Kentucky basketball. And he is still listed as a reporter in the papers personnel section. It seems where I thought there might be a story, there is no story. Sorry to disappoint but Jerry is simply on vacation I am told. And I hope he is having a good one involving a beach somewhere surrounded by bikini-clad cuties and stiff drinks. Jerry, we miss you and look forward to hearing your take on the Dominican Republic exhibition game and any other Kentucky basketball related topic.
