In the third game of the day, the Dominican Republic beat Brazil 79-74, in what is arguably the first surprise of the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship 2011. Great defense from Martinez plus the scoring of Al Horford, who finished with 22 points, got their third victory. Al Horford made the first shot. Brazil got ahead because of great defense that stopped the Dominican attack. Villanueva couldn’t do much coming from the bench, and Brazil had their effectiveness from the line with Marquinhos and Splitter.
