Former University of Louisville point guard and Kentucky nemesis Edgar Sosa suffered a gruesome leg break with just 40 seconds to go in regulation of a 92-68 blowout victory for the Dominican Republic against Panama. According to Leo Lopes, assistant general staff, Sosa suffered a compound fracture of his lower right leg (tibia and fibula) and that surgery will be required. From pictures it appears that his lower leg was snapped in half at the shin. Sosa had recorded 13 points and 8 assists in 25 minutes before the injury occurred. Undoubtedly, this will probably be a career-ending injury for the young man and will certainly have a major impact on the Dominican Republic’s pursuit of Olympic qualification. My heart goes out to Edgar Sosa and ask that Big Blue Nation support him during this time of need with thoughts and prayers.
