The Kemper County roster lists Devonta Pollard at 6 feet, 7 inches tall. Life has made him stand much taller. There was the lightning-caused fire during an April tornado that burned down his house, wiping away nearly all those basketball awards he had earned. And there was the even bigger blow that came in August 2009 when one of his biggest fans – his father Ervin Pollard – lost his battle with cancer.
