Like most coaches, Kevin Stallings disdains the term underachieve and any variation thereof. Can’t say I blame him. When applied to a player or team, the term smacks of failure to perform up to expectations or ability. The blame for that often falls on the coach. Sorry, but if the term fits, wear it. Pure and simple, Vanderbilt’s Commodores underachieved this season. Their elimination in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament is at least one and perhaps two steps short of where their ability and experience should have carried them.
