Anthony Davis on the nerves, joy of No. 1

Anthony Davis - Getty ImagesThere was no suspense. was always going to be the New Orleans Hornets’ choice at No. 1 overall in tonight’s Draft. He knew it. We knew it. There was never a moment’s doubt. And yet, Davis said he couldn’t sleep last night. Couldn’t eat today. Started shaking just before the commissioner called his name.  It’s kind of a big deal, becoming the top pick in the NBA Draft, immediately taking on an expectation that he’ll save a struggling franchise. (Of course, he gets some quality help with the Hornets also taking Duke star at No. 10, sick as it might make to see him paired with a Blue Devil.)  Davis wrapped up maybe the most impressive year ever for an 18/19-year-old basketball player. He won National Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, consensus Player of the Year, an title and became the No. 1 pick in the draft. No one has ever done such thing.
