For five years, Brandon Knight shone on the basketball court at Pine Crest. Saturday, he returned to his alma mater and took on a new role—mentor. Under banners that heralded his high school accomplishments, the Detroit Pistons guard touted the importance of schoolwork. He spoke about his budding NBA career and how he wanted to improve his game. He handed out lunches, posed for pictures and yes, managed to even play a little basketball. And he didn’t waste any time. Moments after walking into the gym, Knight grabbed a ball and jumped into drills with some of the youngest of the 103 campers in attendance.
