Like a true scorer, Noah Vonleh didn’t let a few missed shots rattle his confidence Monday night. In the championship game of the Adidas Nations Tournament at Long Beach City College, the 6-foot-8 forward from Massachusetts found himself 0 for 4 from 3-point range and 8 for 21 from the field. But when it counted most – in the final seconds of overtime – Vonleh stepped up and drained a 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left, lifting his USA 2014 Red team to an 86-84 OT triumph over USA 2013 Blue. Vonleh scored seven of Red’s nine points in OT, including two free throws and a dunk. “It wasn’t falling early,” Vonleh said of his 3-point shot, “but I got it to fall (when it mattered).” The Blue team scored the first four points of overtime and led 82-79 after a Jordan Mathews free throw with 1:28 remaining.
