John Logan was one of thousands who celebrated the Kentucky Wildcats' national championship on the Old Capitol Lawn in April, but was probably the only fan holding an original painting above the crowd. That painting of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Terrence Jones caught John Calipari's eye, and the coach asked if he could take it home after the rally. Logan, a policy analyst with the Kentucky Department of Education, happily agreed, and The State Journal first wrote about the exchange a few days later. He was on cloud nine back then – so imagine his elation when the UK athletics department called a few weeks later asking for two more paintings. “It was obviously pretty exciting, and I didn't believe them at first,” said Logan, who started painting in 1999 when his kids bought him a starter set for Christmas.
