Through newly grueling practices, angry fan outbursts and Monday's plunge out of the Associated Press Top 25, the message has come from all angles and has been clearly delivered: Things need to change, and quickly, for the University of Kentucky basketball team.
A home loss, a two-game skid, unrest in Big Blue Nation — it's uncharted territory for the Wildcats under coach John Calipari. So is the sloppy, sometimes sluggish style of play this season.
“I can see the difference in the way (past UK teams) played and how tough they are in comparison to our team right now,” freshman guard Archie Goodwin said. “I would just say they were a lot more competitive than we are right now. They were more of a team than we are.”
