On the night the Kentucky athletics department honored the 1996 national championship team with title rings, John Calipari’s current team honored “The Untouchables” in the most appropriate way it knew how – by blowing out Mississippi State.
Coming off the confidence-building win against Missouri, the current Cats did what “The Untouchables” did with such frequency that magical season by taking care of the Bulldogs early and throttling them late.
Although UK’s opponent Wednesday was severely undermanned – the Bulldogs, losers of 13 straight, are down to six scholarship players and two walk-ons – Coach Cal was pleased with how his team stayed focused in its 88-55 thrashing of MSU.
“I thought we went forward,” Calipari said.
