Anthony Davis’ last-second, tip-in shot seals 87-86 victory against Boston Celtics

With the  trailing by a point with fourth-tenths of a second remaining, rookie forward  watched as guard Eric Gordon bolted to the basket surrounded by Boston Celtics’ defenders on Wednesday night.

Once Gordon’s desperation layup bounced off the rim, Davis raced through the lane and leaped between unsuspecting Celtics forwards Kevin Garnett and Jeff Green to tip the ball in and seal the Hornets’ improbable 87-86 victory in front of an announced crowd 14,740 at the New Orleans Arena.

After the shot, Davis let out a loud yell of emotion. Hornets forward Ryan Anderson raised his hands in celebration and Coach Monty Williams smiled probably for the first time in a week. Finally, the Hornets (23-46) made a game-clinching play instead of unraveling down the stretch.
