Karl Towns Jr. is a big guy, with a big desire to make a big impact. Itâs guiding how he spends the last summer of his high school career. Towns, 7 feet 1 and 250 pounds, is a five-star prospect who has committed to the University of Kentucky. Heâs best-known as an excellent 3-point shooter for a player of his height, but at the NBPA Top 100 camp last weekend, Towns displayed an effective low-post game more befitting his size.
With hopes of being a major contributor for the Dominican national team this year, Towns has directed his energy toward building strength and becoming a dangerous big man from both far out and close in. Heâs gained about 15 pounds since he committed to UK in December, said his father, Karl Towns Sr.
âYou can see that (the NBPA campers) really canât stop him when heâs on the block,â Towns Sr. said. âHeâs strong.â
