Darius Miller starts slowly but finishes with 23 points

Since the opening game of the NBA Summer League last week, New Orleans Pelicans second-year forward Darius Miller has been unable to avoid ineffective starts.

He hoped things would be different in Wednesday’s inaugural game of the NBA Summer League tournament against the Denver Nuggets at the UNLV’s Cox Pavilion.

But Miller couldn’t get going early again in the Pelicans’ 87-82 loss that puts them in a losers bracket game on Friday against the Washington Wizards.

Though he scored a team-high 23 points, Miller missed five of six shots in the first quarter when the Nuggets (1-3) virtually put the game away with a 31-17 run.
