John Wall’s new max deal with the Washington Wizards comes with a new spotlight on the former University of Kentucky point guard.
Wall recognized his place as the Wizards’ franchise player Thursday in announcing the five-year, $80 million contact. He’ll donate $1 million of that to Washington, D.C.-area charities.
“And I want to donate my time along with the money,” said Wall, who intends to volunteer in the community where he’s played since the Wizards drafted him No. 1 overall out of UK in 2010.
Wall hasn’t identified the charities yet — his agent just finalized the deal Wednesday — but he has a while to figure it out.
