From Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal: “At last, some official word from the University of Kentucky on five-star basketball recruits James Young and twins Andrew and Aaron Harrison: all three are on campus and enrolled in fall-semester classes, which begin today. The rest of the Wildcats’ returning players and freshmen are also enrolled, an athletic department spokesman said.
Young and the Harrisons, representing half of the record six McDonald’s All-Americans the Wildcats signed in the Class of 2013, had been delayed in getting to Lexington. The other three five-star recruits and two more freshmen enrolled in summer classes and have been working out with coach John Calipari and the team the last several weeks. Young and the Harrisons’ final high school year ran later than the rest, however, and both missed the deadline to get in summer school.
With every passing day, and UK sticking to its policy not to comment on enrollment eligibility until the first day of classes (and NCAA eligibility until the first game), fans grew more anxious that something could derail Calipari’s dream team. The incoming class is widely considered the greatest in college basketball history and if everyone is available, the Cats will be preseason favorites to win a ninth national title and second in three years.”
