Sept. 15 marks the first official day coaches can practice with their full teams (including Kentucky) (so far they’ve been able to do small-group skill instructions). It’s only for two hours a week, but it’s the initial step in the escalation to Big Blue Madness and then the season.
Calipari released a video today that went over some of the basics. Said he practiced lobs (and knocked one of the shot clocks “straight off”) and went over the fundamental terminology and principles he wants for this team.
“We have so far to go,” Calipari said. “I know now why people keep saying, ‘how do you do this? How do you build a new team?’ The stuff I went over today was the stuff you go over the first day. Terminology. Trying to make stuff simple for them.”
