
Willie Cauley-Stein spit out his answer like something sour, and he spoke for everyone involved.
“I don’t care what I have to do, I’m not going to let it happen,” the Cats’ sophomore 7-footer said when asked why this season will be different than the last for the University of Kentucky basketball team.
“I just don’t want it to happen. I don’t want to feel that way again. And I don’t want the community to feel that way again.”
Coach John Calipari agrees. He’d rather not ever look back on that last, lost season again. But he started his preseason media Q&A last month with an admission: He sabotaged last year’s Wildcats, who lost to Robert Morris in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament, by not recruiting more players.
