If basketball does not work out for UK freshman center Dakari Johnson, he may have a future in an unlikely sport:
“I take that serious,” Johnson said with a smile in a one-on-one interview with KyForward in September. “At my high school, it was, like, 52-percent Chinese, and they play ping pong all the time, so I kind of got hooked on that a little bit.”
Johnson has no doubts he can take his teammates on the ping pong table, but it’s his work on the court that has impressed his head coach thus far.
It is difficult to consider a top-10 recruit overlooked, but that is exactly how Johnson considers himself.
