Former Wildcat DeMarcus Cousins tips off his fourth NBA season as the center for the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. The Kings host the Denver Nuggets at 9 p.m. CDT in their 2013-14 season-opener.

Wednesday night’s game will be different from Cousins’ other NBA openers. This season, the Kings are looking for more from Cousins than points and rebounds. As a new owner, general manager and coach take over in Sacramento, hoping to end seven straight losing seasons, they’ve tabbed Cousins as the team’s leader.

“I’m going to go out there every night and leave it on the floor,” Cousins said. “I’m the leader of this team. First one in, last one out, and I’m going to show it on the floor every night. That’s being a leader. I’m going to be the one diving on the floor for balls.”
