Youth at root of slow starts for Kentucky, John Calipari says

The buzzer sounds before every game, but the Kentucky Wildcats have a habit of hitting the snooze button.

For whatever reason, this team is a slow-starting one. In four of Kentucky’s seven games this season, the Cats have either trailed or been tied at the second media (under-12) timeout. It has only cost Kentucky one game – the 78-74 loss to in which the Cats fell behind 10-0 to start the game – but with a difficult December looming, Calipari knows full well it could catch up with his team.

“The teams that we’re playing, from Providence, Baylor, Boise (State), Belmont, (North) Carolina, Louisville, these next games, we could lose every one of them,” Calipari said. “Every one of those guys are going to come out of the gate playing. You get down 15?0 to one of these guys, you don’t come back. They’re too good of teams. We got to get guys understanding.”
