The supposed knock on Tyler Ulis is that at 5 feet 9, he’s too short to run coach John Calipari’s offense the way that big point guards Derrick Rose, Tyreke Evans and John Wall did.
But when Ulis is whizzing past defenders into the lane, hitting 3-pointers and darting no-look passes to teammates in perfect position to score, size doesn’t seem to matter.
“A lot of people are trying to knock me for my size, saying I’m too little to play at the next level, so once they see me play, hopefully, they change their mind,” the University of Kentucky signee said Saturday night after his dynamic performance in the Mustang Madness showcase at McCracken County High School.
With Calipari watching from a courtside table, UK’s shortest signed commitment was long on production.
