One member of the Kentucky basketball family has returned home to figure out his life after basketball.
Julius Mays is back in the U.S. after a 10-month stint overseas, playing professionally for the Italian team Mobyt Ferrara.
“We’ve been back in the country for a month now, but we enjoyed our time in Italy,” said Mays, whose fiancé and daughter traveled with him overseas. “We’d both say that we’re glad to be home.”
But the return for Mays, who is just two years removed from a Kentucky roster, is more than just a homecoming. It also marks a new chapter in Mays’ life.
He has decided to retire from basketball.
