Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis overcame a minor injury scare and eclipsed the 30-point threshold for the first time this season, as his team fell to the Mavericks 109-104 Saturday night.

Davis stepped on his former New Orleans teammate Al-Farouq Aminu's foot while trying to fight for a rebound under the basket in the first quarter. He was on the ground in pain before walk off the court gingerly during a timeout.

He remained in the game and finished with 31 points on 9 of 21 shooting from the field and 13 of 16 from the charity stripe. He notched his second double-double of the season with 15 rebounds, six of which came from the offensive side of the glass. He added one assist, three blocks and two steals in 43 minutes of game action. Davis is averaging 28.5 points and 16 boards through his first two games.
