Though is widely regarded as the No. 1 team to start the country, most preseason All-America teams have been void of a Wildcat.

That is until Wednesday.

freshman forward Karl-Anthony Towns was named a preseason first-team All-American by USA Today Sports on Wednesday, joining North Carolina's Marcus Paige, Wichita State's Fred VanVleet, Wisconsin's Sam Dekker and Duke's Jahil Okafor.

Towns, widely regarded as one of the top prospects for the 2015 NBA Draft, was Kentucky's leading scorer in back-to-back exhibition routs of Pikeville and Georgetown College. Though he averaged just 18.0 minutes per game, Towns averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.
