Dominique Hawkins isn't your average 11th or 12th man.
Coming out of high school, Hawkins was named 2013 Kentucky Mr. Basketball as well as the state Gatorade Player of the Year.
Problem is, this year the Wildcats boast nine McDonald's All-Americans, which doesn't count Willie Cauley-Stein, and there are only 40 minutes in a game.
“It's really hard being on the bench watching your brothers compete against each of these teams,” Hawkins said.
The 6-foot combo guard also realizes, though, that with the two-platoon system, his number can be called at a moment's notice due to injury or illness. When he found out during shoot around that freshman guard Tyler Ulis would miss the Eastern Kentucky game on Sunday, Hawkins was ready.
