John Calipari's Kentucky Wildcats wanted to go home.
After being together and working hard for nearly four months, the top-ranked Wildcats wanted some time to spend with each of their families.
Fourteen seconds into Saturday afternoon's game at the United Center in Chicago, sophomore guard Aaron Harrison hit a 3-pointer to put the Cats up 3-0. Nearly 7.5 minutes later, UCLA hit its opening basket. By that time, Kentucky had since scored 21 more points to take a jaw-dropping, head-shaking and eyebrow-raising 24-0 lead.
“These guys are so excited about going home for Christmas and spending four days with their families,” Coach Cal said. “It showed on that basketball court. They were excited about playing.”
