But what is setting the Raptors forward apart from the crowd — the attribute that has made him an invaluable part of the team with the best record in the NBA's Eastern Conference — is his brain.

Patterson is proving to be one of the more instinctual and intelligent members of the team, allowing him to flourish under coach Dwane Casey's system.

“His instincts are great, his basketball IQ and the way he anticipates what is about to happen,” Casey said of Patterson.
