Kentucky Wildcats learn valuable lesson of league challenges

Even though it was the first Southeastern Conference game of the season for both Kentucky (14-0, 1-0 SEC) and Ole Miss (9-5, 0-1 SEC), Tuesday night’s thriller felt like a final exam.

The good news for Kentucky is the Cats passed, narrowly defeating the Rebels 89-86 in overtime. Clearly, though, there’s plenty of work to do in what is obviously going to be another grind of a conference season.

“Everybody in our league can play,” junior forward Willie Cauley-Stein said. “You’re not going to have blowout games anymore. You’re going to have tough games like that every time you step out.”
