Devin Booker earns second straight SEC Freshman of the Week honor

For the second straight week and the third time this season, guard Devin Booker was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Booker averaged 10.0 points on 67-percent shooting to help to a pair of dominant wins against opponents last week.

The 6-foot-6 guard began the week with a perfect night shooting, not missing an attempt from the floor or from the free-throw line against . The Grand Rapids, Michigan native was UK's leading scorer at with 13 points, UK's first victory in Tuscaloosa, Ala., since 2009.

Booker made a trio of 3-pointers at Alabama and has hit multiple treys in five of his last six games, and at least one in seven straight outings.

In league competition, Booker is shooting 64.7 percent from 3-point range, 90.9 percent at the free-throw line and 55.6 percent from the floor while averaging 12.8 points per game. He leads all SEC players in 3-point field-goal percentage for the season.

The Wildcats have won seven SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season. Booker has won the award three times while Karl-Anthony Towns won the award twice. and have claimed the honor once apiece.

will return to Rupp Arena on Tuesday when the Cats host Vanderbilt at 9 p.m. on the SEC Network.
