Kentucky heads to LSU with memories of icy loss

When No. 1 faces on Tuesday night in Baton Rouge, La., it will do so with many more in attendance than last season when it lost 87-82.

Due to an ice storm in late January of last year, there was an estimated crowd of 6,000-plus at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Though the listed paid attendance was 12,124, the only area that truly resembled a sellout was the student section, thanks to classes having already been canceled for the next day.

can certainly expect to see a full student section again Tuesday night, as well as every other section in the arena, as has announced its first true sellout since 2009, according to the school’s athletics website.

In fact, even if you’re not a student and you’re worried about arriving to the game on time, has you covered. Expecting the largest crowd of the season, the Tigers’ athletics department has issued an excuse letter, signed by head coach Johnny Jones, in an attempt to alleviate traffic and long lines by leaving work early.
