On Thursday, Karl-Anthony Towns is widely expected to become the third Wildcat to be taken No. 1 in the NBA Draft in the last six years.
It’s an exciting time for the 19-year-old from Piscataway, N.J., but one that he has been working for his entire life. To only talk about Towns’ on-court performances though would be to only tell half the story.
“He is a wonderful kid,” Kentucky head coach John Calipari said in February. “He’s a great student. He’s all that you want in a player. He’s like a son.”
“Karl is as good of a guy as you’re ever going to want to coach,” former UK assistant coach Barry Rohrssen said. “If they were all like Karl Towns, more people would want to get into coaching.”
