Minnesota big man Karl-Anthony Towns has been enjoying a historic rookie season and the former Kentucky Wildcat made more Timberwolves history Monday night.

With a 17-foot jumper off an assist from fellow Wildcat Tayshaun Prince at the 8:52 mark of the fourth quarter against Houston, Towns set the franchise rookie record with 1,473 points this season.

As an added bonus for Big Blue Nation, in doing so, Towns passed noted UK villain Christian Laettner, scoring 12 points in the Timberwolves 129-105 home loss to the Rockets.

Towns was named Western Conference Player of the Week Monday, has won all five Western Conference Rookie of the Month awards and is the prohibitive favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year.
