John Calipari says Kentucky could have won more NCAA Titles in a ‘Best-of-3’ Or ‘Best-of-7’ Format

has had 38 of his players selected in the NBA Draft and there are four former Wildcats currently in the NBA Finals.

Three of them — Anthony Davis of the Lakers and Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro of the Heat — played for Calipari, while Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo did not.

Despite so much NBA talent year after year, Calipari has won just one NCAA title during his 11 years at Kentucky — in 2012 when Davis became the No. 1 overall pick in the Draft and his teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist went No. 2. By contrast, Villanova coach Jay Wright, who has never had a pure one-and-done player and relies on older, more experienced players, has won two of the last three NCAA titles.

Calipari conceded Tuesday that his teams “could’ve done more” in terms of winning NCAA titles.
