Wide eyes and words of astonishment are the response when Daimion Collins’ name comes up in basketball circles these days.

“He surprises me every day in practice,” fellow freshman said at the team’s Media Day last week. “You penetrate, drive and throw up a lob, and he’ll put his head at the top of the rim and dunk the ball. It’s crazy to see. His putback dunks and stuff like that — it’s crazy.”

It’s not just those new to college basketball who are in awe of Collins’ abilities.

“It’s rare,” sixth-year college player said of the 6-foot-9 freshman’s talent. “That guy can touch the top of the backboard. Like, literally.”
