The #4 Kentucky Wildcats will play host again and welcome the Duquesne Dukes to Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center, where tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET Friday. After these two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune.
UK simply couldn’t be stopped on Monday, as they easily beat the Howard Bison at home 95-63. The Wildcats relied on the efforts of CJ Fredrick, who had 20 points, and Cason Wallace, who had 15 points and nine assists along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Duquesne made easy work of the Montana Grizzlies on Tuesday and carried off a 91-63 victory. Dae Dae Grant was the offensive standout of the matchup for Duquesne, shooting 6-for-6 from beyond the arc and finishing with 25 points.
UK is the favorite in this one, with an expected 17.5-point margin of victory. Those taking them against the spread are banking on an outcome similar to that of the team’s game on Monday, where they covered a 25-point spread.
The wins brought UK up to 1-0 and the Dukes to 1-0. A pair of last-season offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Wildcats come into the contest boasting the 34th highest field goal percentage in college basketball at 48.30%. Duquesne displayed some offensive firepower of their own as they enter the contest with a 40.30% field goal percentage, good for fourth best in college basketball. This one is shaping up to be an exciting offensive shootout.
Kentucky and Duquesne have played twice previously. The Wildcats won both times.
